Luxury department store Harrolds has announced the closure of its boutique store at the Crown Casino in Melbourne.
Advertising guru Harold Mitchell, a Crown director since 2011, on Friday faced an inquiry into the company’s suitability to operate a new casino at Sydney’s Barangaroo. Mr Mitchell said he did not know why he had been kept in the dark, but did not believe anyone was hiding anything. Harolds Club was sold in 1970 for $13 million to Howard Hughes’ Summa Corp. Summa enlarged the place to keep pace with a casino construction boom that included such giants as the MGM Grand-Reno.
